Prof. Chiu's teaching covers analog and digital circuits, electronics, communications, and embedded systems.  He is a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and a Senior Member of IEEE.  Prof. Chiu was selected to attend the National Academy of Engineering's 2013 Frontiers of Engineering Education Symposium.

Prof. Chiu's areas of research include cyber-physical systems, communications, and high-performance computing.  He is affiliated with the Measurement and Control Engineering Research Center at ISU.  Prof. Chiu has published more than 60 refereed conference and journal articles, along with a book on Matlab simulation for control systems.  Prof. Chiu is a Fulbright U.S. Scholar on Cyber-Security and Critical Infrastructure.

Prof. Chiu refereed for multiple publications in electrical and computer engineering, including IEEE Computing in Science and Engineering, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, Journal of Future Generation Computing Systems, among others.  He served on the editorial review board of the International Journal of Handheld Computing Research, and has been a guest editor for the Journal of Supercomputing.  Prof. Chiu is a recipient of the ISU 2021 Outstanding Service Faculty award.
